Built Environment
A built environment consists of buildings and all other things that have been constructed by human beings. Built environments include towns, homes, shops, schools, factories, transport stations and cubby houses.
Heritage and Recreation
Lady Robinson Beach is backed up by one of Sydney's most well know roads, The Grand Parade. Along Grand Parade there is very heavy traffic during peak periods (mainly in the morning) and examples of medium to high density real estate dating from the 1920's to the present.
The entire beach is backed by a foreshore reserve called Cooks Park, which varies from a few metres to 200 metres in width, and for the most part has a continuous walkway and bike path, as well as numerous facilities and amenities, including Ramsgate Life Saving Club.
The beach is also home to a myriad of cafes, restaurants and retail shops that reflect the area's wide variety of cultures. Both tourists and locals love to visit the popular location for a variety of multicultural cuisine and night-time entertainment and it has been known as 'Little Greece by the Bay’ for its numerous Greek cafés, restaurants and businesses.

Conservation
Lady Robinson Beach is a beach that is being preserved and sustained by humans with the use of different conservation techniques such as the building of groynes and a seawall along the beach.
Groynes
Groynes are one of the most common engineering solutions to beaches that are experiencing erosion. In an attempt to stop the process of erosion and to stop sand being pushed along the beach, ten groynes have been built on Lady Robinson beach.
Seawalls
A seawall is a wall or embankment erected to prevent the sea from encroaching on or eroding an area of land. The purpose of a seawall is to protect areas of human habitation, conservation and leisure activities from the action of tides and waves.
A large seawall lies along the beach at Lady Robinson. This seawall was built to protect the dense population along the main roads, the housing, retail and leisure related buildings and the sandy foreshore from high tides and surging waves.
